Brian Thorstad

Brian Thorstad, our Senior Pastor, a Wisconsin native, has been involved in “strategic interim ministry” for the past 3 ½ years.  Strategic interim pastors lead congregations through the crucial transition times between long-term pastors seeking to use this time to improve the church’s health and vitality.  After serving several long-term pastorates in Wisconsin, Pastor Brian and his wife Donna felt a strong call of God to launch into the work of “strategic interiming.”  They both have long loved the local church and share a passion for God to be glorified through healthy, vibrant, effective churches.  Brian and Donna thank God for the way in which God used them in their first two intentional interim pastorates and are looking forward to “matching up” New Life with the long-term pastor whom God has prepared for the next phase of ministry here in the Hastings area.  They are enthusiastic about the future of New Life, citing its strong families, exceptional youth and children’s ministries and solid core of godly leaders.

Brian and Donna have one son, Jesse, currently serving in the US Army with the 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, New York.  Jesse recently married Jacquie Kafczynski, from right here in Hastings.
