Rich- Elder

Where did you grow up? I was born in Bloomington, MN but didn’t spend much time here. My dad was employed by the US government as a site inspector for the Minuteman missile program that placed nuclear missiles through out the upper Midwest during the 60’s and 70’s. We eventually settled in Minot ND were I attended junior and senior high. I attended North Dakota State University, received a BS degree in computer science, and hired on at Sperry Univac defense system here in the twin cities during the late 70’s. I’ve been here ever since.

What is your favorite hobby? I’d like to do more fly fishing – I just started to learn “how to” last year and have found I’m providing loads of entertainment for the fish.

What are you passionate about? Ice cream, a good Reuben sandwich, and helping people grow in their faith (not necessarily in that order).

What is your favorite bible verse? John 3:16 – For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son that who ever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. The verse says it all – God gave his son that I might have eternal life; that’s awesome!

Tell me about your best church memory. Sunday school Christmas program and Easter Morning breakfast prepared by the men’s group in church. Over time I began to realize that the events portrayed by those two major holiday events were what I believed to be true.

Tell me about your family. Georgine and I have been married for 29 years – yep, next year is the big 30! Georgine works part time as an activities assistant at the Regina Nursing home in Hastings. Our older daughter Christine married Jared Sachs last December and lives in the Farmington area. She has a degree in Physical Therapy and works fulltime at Fairview Hospital in Red Wing. Our youngest daughter Michelle attends school in Gillette, Wyoming and is taking prerequisite courses for dental hygiene. Though truth be told, it’s the college rodeo live that attracted her to the school. She competes in barrel racing and has done quite well this year.
