When Paul thought about God’s sovereignty in the gospel, he prayed for one thing: That the Spirit of God would bring light to the eyes of your heart. He prayed for a supernatural inner transformation, a clarity and a conviction of truth, an awareness of the gravity of Jesus’ sacrifice on your behalf, and an awakening and renewal of your heart so that you would know God better.

When the Apostle Paul pondered the reality of God’s sovereignty and how God’s plan was carried out through Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection, it caused him to do one thing: praise.

Paul expresses a dimension of God’s character that he has come to deeply understand and value because he went through his own suffering: Paul personally knows God’s compassion and comfort, and this comfort is a gift that is meant to be shared with others for the glory of God.

Paul’s central message to the Corinthians is this: God is faithful, his faithfulness is proven in the gospel, and he is working in and through you to bring your life into alignment with your calling to be his holy people.

The presence of God is the only antidote for anxiety, and you will only find true contentment when you trust in God’s power and God’s provision in all circumstances when you understand how deeply he cares for you.

The Kingdom of God is our horizon of significance. In the gospel, we come to know the ultimate fixed point that is trustworthy and true, the only way to know where we are and where we are going, and the single person to whom we can orient our lives: King Jesus!

Paul knows that gospel transformation is a work of God. So he begins his letter to the Philippians with prayer. He desperately wants these believers to know and love Jesus. I want to challenge you today to practice praying like Paul.

The very rhythms of life are formational and will shape who or what you worship. Have you considered that your daily use of digital technology and social media are shaping what you worship? How can we make choices with our digital technology that re-capture and re-calibrate how we are formed everyday?

It takes a lot of wisdom and self-control to know how to navigate life in a digital world. Ask yourself: What kind of fruit is technology bearing in my life? Are digital devices making my family more or less healthy and fruitful image-bearers of God?

This election is probably making you anxious about the future, frustrated with the political process, or disillusioned with our nation’s leaders. There is so much anger and fear in the world today. How should we respond? I want to remind us of a few important truths that should set us apart as gospel-believing Christians.

The last few weeks have made many of us anxious. Whether you are worried about getting sick, losing your job, getting stuck inside with your family, or finding toilet paper, we all are experiencing some serious upheaval in our lives. Let me share with you two helpful passages that show the contrast between trusting the Lord and not trusting the Lord.

I believe we need to pray with boldness for the Lord to keep us safe in this uncertain time. May the words of this Psalm give you comfort today: "Because he loves me," says the Lord, "I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him."

It is not enough to know the right answers or say the right things. Your actions prove that you’ve really listened to God. Dr. Graeme Cole, the dean of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, crystallized this in a simple statement: “Your actions will either underline what you say or undermine what you say.“

Deuteronomy 6 is a passage about parenting. In this chapter, Moses tells the Israelites what the most important thing is in life. And he pleads with them to model it to their kids.
