Read 2 Kings 17:1-23
Contemplate: Fast-forward through many generations of kings following David and Solomon. The kingdom is divided into the northern Kingdom of Israel and the southern Kingdom of Judah. The Israelites have sinned and rebelled against God. The Lord’s patience has run out and he now brings the Assyrians to invade the northern Kingdom of Israel in 721 BC. They are carried off in exile to Assyria and now only the Kingdom of Judah (with the capital city Jerusalem) stands.
Pray: Are there other gods in your life? Are there things you need to surrender to Jesus? Is there anything you need to confess to God that has kept you from obeying his good commands? Pray and ask the Lord to reveal the dark areas of your heart. Ask for forgiveness. Praise God that he listens and hears your prayer.
